Neddle Valves
What is a needle valve?
Needle valves, also known as plunger valves, are regulating valves that allow engineers to finely control and regulate the flow and pressure of water. The precision is achieved by the precise movement of the shaft, which allows the gearbox to slide the piston tube towards the open or closed position based on the requirements of the control system.
Where can needle/plunger valves be used?
Needle and plunger valves find application in various industries that require flow or pressure regulation. They are commonly used in water treatment and distribution, dams, reservoirs, power plants, and industrial settings for tasks such as:
- Flow control
- Pressure regulation
- Pump start
- Turbine bypass
- Discharge operations
- Reservoir inlets
- Air regulation
When should needle/plunger valves be used?
Compared to diaphragm control valves, needle and plunger valves can handle higher differential pressures. Our standard needle valve range covers a pressure range up to PN40, with the possibility of extending it to PN100 upon request. The standard size range covers DN80 to DN1600, and can be extended to DN2000 upon request. Needle valves can be manually operated or controlled through electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic actuation.
Needle Valve Variants and Configuration
We offer a wide range of high quality needle valves in different configurations and with optional extras for actuation and cavitation prevention.
Dedicated software for precise size calculation Each valve is specified according to relevant selection criteria for its specific application. Upon order or request it is, therefore, mandatory to provide information about hydraulic data (flow rate and pressure), installation design and requested actuation. This ensures that the valve has an optimal performance for the given installation. By using our dedicated software for sizing calculations, we provide a fluid and cavitation report under the hydraulic conditions. The report will guarantee a cavitation free valve
Configurations
We offer a selection of optional extras for actuation and cavitation prevention. Each valve is fitted to the actual operating data and works
without cavitation even at major pressure differences.
Actuation
Upon request we can provide needle valve solutions with custom designed actuation

• Worm gear box and handwheel
• Electric actuator
• Hydraulic
• Hydraulic brake and lift unit
• Double acting hydraulic piston
• Single acting hydraulic piston
• Double or single acting pneumatic actuator
